Competence Expert Witness

In medicine, competence is a term that refers to the patient’s ability to make his own decisions concerning his own treatment plans and options. An expert gives the patient a full examination to determine whether or not he is competent enough to make vital medical decisions. Competence is especially important when it comes to children (Gillick’s competence is a term that determines whether or not children need permission from their parents to change their medical plan).
