If a patient has a severe pulmonary (lung) disease, then pulmonary surgery may be used as a course of treatment. Lung surgery is associated with a moderate amount of risk, so surgeons must be well-trained to handle any potential complications. When successful, pulmonary surgery may restore breathing ability and/or eliminate coughing/fatigue.
