CPR Expert Witness
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an emergency procedure for patients in cardiac or respiratory arrest. It can be performed by EMTs or, as a stopgap measure, by laymen. Those performing CPR typically press on the patient’s chest and breathe into his mouth in order to manually pump blood into the heart and ventilate the lungs. It is unlikely to restart the heart; its main purpose is to maintain blood and oxygen flow to the brain and the heart.
