A skin allergy is a rash or reaction that develops as a result of the patient being exposed to an irritating toxin or chemical. Skin allergy testing can be conducted to diagnose a patient with allergies; it is typically performed by a doctor who provokes a small, contained reaction in order to understand what irritates the patient’s skin.
