A stroke occurs when the blood flow to the patient’s brain is suddenly and inexplicably disturbed. It can have disastrous consequences (cognitive and emotional impairment) the longer it goes untreated. Therefore physicians and patients alike must be vigilant to signs and symptoms in order to detect and treat a stroke immediately.
